As individuals, our reactions to foods and drinks vary a great deal. An ingredient which may cause problems for one person could be completely acceptable for another. At YorkTest, we like to refer to this as our personal ‘food fingerprint’.

Discovering and understanding your own personal food and drink intolerances†, and the effects they have on your health and wellbeing, is important to ensuring you make the best possible choices to balance your diet.

Although each region has its own distinct cuisine, the distinctively vegetable-rich Asian diet is low in saturated fat and high in vitamins, minerals, fibre and antioxidants. As the incidence of heart disease, obesity and cancer are typically much lower in Asian societies than in Western, many choose to adopt this flavourful diet for health benefits. For followers of this distinctively nutrient-rich, plant and fish-based diet, we have developed the Asian DietScan which tests for reactions to 162 of the most common ingredients found in the Asian diet.

† YorkTest define Food Intolerance as a food-specific IgG reaction.

About the Asian DietScan

The YorkTest Asian DietScan is one of our most comprehensive tests, analysing your IgG reaction to 162 food and drink ingredients, providing you with nutritional advice and support to help you optimise and balance your diet.

Please note: if you are concerned about any symptoms you are experiencing, you should always visit your GP to rule out any serious underlying medical condition.

What to Expect from the Asian DietScan Programme

The YorkTest Asian DietScan kit contains all you need to take a small blood sample (2 – 3 drops) in the comfort of your own home. Simply return your sample in the pre-paid envelope provided (UK only) to our York laboratories for expert analysis. Your confidential results and additional support material will be posted to you within 10 days.

When you have received your results and are ready, you can contact us to book your appointment with one of our BANT* registered Nutritional Therapists. This half hour session will provide you with support and knowledge to assist you in your new diet, ensuring you are confident in the changes you can make to improve your health and wellbeing.

Do not take this test if you are:

  • Suffering from a blood borne disease such as Hepatitis or HIV
  • Pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Under the age of 2 years

Raised levels of food-specific IgG antibodies within your blood indicate that an IgG antibody reaction to a particular food or foods has occurred.  If you have already taken the decision to eliminate a particular food or foods from your diet they may not show up a reaction on your results.  If you know of foods that cause you to feel unwell, do not start eating them; we do not encourage you to eat a food or foods which you already know are a problem to you.

Asian DietScan does not provide information about coeliac disease, enzyme deficiencies such as lactose and alcohol intolerance, IgE-mediated allergies, histamine sensitivity or other chemical sensitivities such as reactions to sulphites, tannins or tyramine.  Asian DietScan is only recommended for people who have food and drink intolerance symptoms.
