As individuals, our reaction to food varies a great deal. An ingredient which may cause problems for one person could be completely acceptable for another. At YorkTest, we like to refer to this as our personal ‘food fingerprint’.
Discovering and understanding your own personal dietary intolerances and the effects they have on your health and wellbeing is important to ensuring you make the best possible food choices to balance your diet.
About the FoodScan Programme
The YorkTest FoodScan programme analyses your IgG reaction to 113 food ingredients to provide you with nutritional advice and support to optimise and balance your diet. View the full list of foods:
If you are interested in discovering whether you have reactions to drink ingredients too, why not try our comprehensive Food&DrinkScan programme
91% of our customers would recommend the YorkTest FoodScan Programme.
Why? We believe it is because in one survey of 5286 people 3 out of 4 of them told us they felt better after acting on their results with our support and guidance.**
Please note: if you are concerned about any symptoms you are experiencing, you should always visit your GP to rule out any serious underlying medical condition.
What to Expect from the FoodScan Programme
The YorkTest FoodScan kit contains all you need to take a small blood sample (2 – 3 drops) in the comfort of your own home. Simply return your sample in the pre-paid envelope provided to our York laboratories for expert analysis.
Your confidential results and additional support material will be posted to you within 10 days.
When you have received your results and are ready, you can contact us to book your appointment with one of our BANT* registered Nutritional Therapists. This half hour session will provide you with support and knowledge to assist you in your new diet, ensuring you are confident about the changes you can make to improve your health and wellbeing.

Do not take this test if you are:
- Suffering from a blood borne disease such as Hepatitis or HIV
- Under 2 years old
- Pregnant or breastfeeding
Raised levels of food-specific IgG antibodies within your blood indicate that an IgG antibody reaction to a particular food or foods has occurred. If you have already taken the decision to eliminate a particular food or foods from your diet they may not show up a reaction on your results. If you know of foods that cause you to feel unwell, do not start eating them; we do not encourage you to eat a food or foods which you already know are a problem to you.
FoodScan does not provide information about coeliac disease, enzyme deficiencies such as lactose and alcohol intolerance, IgE-mediated allergies, histamine sensitivity or other chemical sensitivities such as reactions to sulphites, tannins or tyramine. FoodScan is only recommended for people who have food intolerance symptoms.
